The Friends of Labor: Thirty-First Annual Charity Dinner

On Saturday, October 28, 2017, The Friends of Labor Committee of Laborers’ Local 332 held its Thirty-First Annual Charity Dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Philadelphia’s Penn’s Landing. This gala affair is growing every year! This year Joseph Ashdale, Business Manager/Secretary-Treasure of the Painters & Allied Trades D.C. #21 was awarded the Labor Man of the Year Award and Congressman Dwight Evans was awarded as the Outstanding Community Leader. Each of these men were presented with the prestigious “Sammie” named in honor of the late great icon of Laborers’ Local 332-Samuel Staten Sr.
This special event featured a number of prominent political figures and including Pennsylvania’s Governor Tom Wolf, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, Congressmen Robert Brady, State Representative Jordan Harris, State Senator Vincent Hughes and many others.
Yet the real stars of this gala event are the members of Laborers’ Local 332 under our Business Manager, Sam Staten Jr! We once again helped to raise thousands of dollars for various non-profit organizations, charities, and community groups!
