In a special program honoring the memory of Dr Martin Luther King, The AFL-CIO honored Laborers Local 332 retired Business Manager, Sam Staten Sr with the “Eyes on the Prize” Award for Community Service! The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Awards Banquet was held at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Liberty Hotel on January 20, 2013.The banquet was a part of a series of events held by the AFL-CIO over the past weekend under the theme: “WORKERS RIGHTS are CIVIL RIGHTS”
A large contingent of Local 332 members came out for this special event honoring “The Boss”, Sam Staten Sr. He delivered a moving speech that inspired the attendees. See Mr Staten’s brief lecture below:
